Notes
1. Mary of Modena was James II's second wife. His first - Anne Hyde - never become Queen as she died in 1671, fourteen years before he ascended the throne. She was the mother of the future Mary II and Anne.

2. From 1689-94 Mary II and her husband William III ruled jointly. On Mary's death in 1694, William ruled alone until his death in 1702.
